<section id="HBE6241A5DDEA4764B346D03A852E2168" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header>
 <text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>War Powers Priority Procedures Modernization Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> 
<section id="H5ED62A846EBB4A71BF31411C8C36EC99" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Priority procedures for joint resolution</header> 
<subsection id="HAEF8280FAACA4E0795455545ECDD9B43"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Congressional action</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 5(c) of the War Powers Resolution (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/50/1544">50 U.S.C. 1544</external-xref>) is amended by inserting <quote>or joint resolution</quote> after <quote>concurrent resolution</quote>.</text></subsection> <subsection id="H49F25AE92BA54258AF227CF77E8098F7"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Congressional priority procedures for concurrent resolution or joint resolution</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 7 of the War Powers Resolution (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/50/1546">50 U.S.C. 1546</external-xref>) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="HFE2B7131A05F480B9095396A04F02A81"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the section heading, by inserting <quote><header-in-text level="section" style="OLC">or joint resolution</header-in-text></quote> after <quote><header-in-text level="section" style="OLC">concurrent resolution</header-in-text></quote>;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HE69B38E47F0344BABF2E3AF41450C8D4"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting <quote>or joint resolution</quote> after <quote>concurrent resolution</quote> each place it appears; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H89BF702EE5A446CDAA418E4D55608E70"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text> <quoted-block style="OLC" id="H2F8FE4DD43F441DAABDAAAA521233DD3" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <subsection id="H45FB9384EC5D4017BBFD6727595AE42D"><enum>(e)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In the case that a joint resolution passed by both Houses should be vetoed by the President, the time for debate in consideration of the veto message on such joint resolution shall be limited to 20 hours in the Senate and 20 hours in the House of Representatives.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H6DEC77F738AC433F9526E17EBE173B51"><enum>(f)</enum><text>Notwithstanding section 1013 of the Department of State Authorization Act, Fiscal Years 1984 and 1985 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/50/1546a">50 U.S.C. 1546a</external-xref>), the priority procedures under this section shall apply where a joint resolution is introduced in either House which requires the removal of United States Armed Forces engaged in hostilities outside the territory of the United States, its possessions and territories without a declaration of war or specific statutory authorization. </text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection></section> </legis-body></bill>
