following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, 
     and in addition to the Committee on Rules, for a period to be 
subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration 
  of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee 
                               concerned

To prohibit an authorization for use of military force which authorizes 
such force for a period longer than 5 years or an unspecified period of 
         time from receiving congressional priority procedures.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Prevent Endless Wars Act''.

SEC. 2. SUNSET REQUIREMENT FOR AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF MILITARY TO 
              RECEIVE CONGRESSIONAL PRIORITY PROCEDURES.

    (a) In General.--Section 6 of the War Powers Resolution (50 U.S.C. 
1545) is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection:
    ``(e) Subsections (a) through (d) of this section may not apply 
with respect to a joint resolution or bill introduced pursuant to 
section 5(b) which authorizes the use of United States Armed Forces for 
a period of more than 5 years or an unspecified period of time.''.
    (b) Applicability.--This Act, and the amendment made by this Act, 
shall apply with respect to a joint resolution or bill introduced 
pursuant section 5(b) of the War Powers Resolution (50 U.S.C. 1544(b)) 
(commonly referred to as an ``Authorization for Use of Military 
Force'') after the date of the enactment of this Act.
