<section id="H52B6151C4C6747079D539C5F3B94B526" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Veterans Legal Support Act of 2026</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HB159685251A447D78F4DB2718DAD78CA"><enum>2.</enum><header>Department of veterans affairs support for university legal clinics that assist veterans</header> <subsection id="H7F1FE35319F74190BD433CA27A2FD34E"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Support authorized</header><text>The Secretary of Veterans Affairs may provide support to one or more university law school programs that are designed to provide legal assistance to veterans.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H1CFE2D920F8A45D49D3CBEBC3BC45E62"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Eligible programs</header><text>Programs of university law schools which may receive support under subsection (a) may include programs that assist veterans with—</text> <paragraph id="H446AA5BAAC024561B7DE3E9E223C4124"><enum>(1)</enum><text>representing veterans in appeals and proceedings before the Department of Veterans Affairs related to the appointment of fiduciaries;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H52862A79A1F34727B603596E0FE28E12"><enum>(2)</enum><text>filing and appealing claims for benefits under laws administered by the Secretary; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H273104EBED814EF0BDF7A1DE8B6A818D"><enum>(3)</enum><text>such other civil, criminal, and family legal matters as the Secretary considers appropriate.</text></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H970E77B3580848F3A57D831E9539FEBA"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Authorization of appropriations</header><text>There is authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section $10,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2027 through 2031.</text></subsection></section> </legis-body></bill>
