<section id="H33CF21954E1E4B71BC0D008AFB2A691E" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Prohibition with respect to certain products for children that incorporate artificial intelligence chatbots</header> 
<subsection id="H97FC20DF01A54FB4AC5B826D42462B9E"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Beginning on the date that is 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, no person may manufacture for sale, import into the United States, sell or otherwise convey to another person, offer to sell or convey to another person, or distribute in commerce in any manner any children’s toy or child care article that incorporates as part of such toy or article an artificial intelligence chatbot.</text></subsection> <subsection id="H14BAEFA0B0CA426AA47E77305FDCCE18" commented="no"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Enforcement</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A violation of subsection (a) shall be treated as a violation of section 19 of the Consumer Product Safety Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/2068">15 U.S.C. 2068</external-xref>).</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H2891639C965C43F2BE42B38CBE93CFCF"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section:</text> <paragraph id="HF85D2BF0C89A4DDBBC55E41EFE6E1B2C"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Artificial intelligence; machine learning</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The terms <quote>artificial intelligence</quote> and <quote>machine learning</quote> have the meanings given such terms in section 5002 of the National Artificial Intelligence Initiative Act of 2020 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/9401">15 U.S.C. 9401</external-xref>).</text> </paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H2239ED270B9B48099B6EED07FF952570"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Chatbot</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>chatbot</quote> means a technology that uses artificial intelligence or machine learning to engage in interactive conversations with a user of such technology.</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H88EB6FA9B437443EADA5EE84C8B32079"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Child care article; children’s toy</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The terms <quote>child care article</quote> and <quote>children’s toy</quote> have the meanings given such terms in section 108(g)(1) of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/2057c">15 U.S.C. 2057c(g)(1)</external-xref>).</text></paragraph> </subsection></section>
