<section id="HF2E404B31CAC494B8D9C2027F87285F2" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Freedom from Ideological Requirements in Employment Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote>FIRE Act</quote>. </text></section> <section id="H7CEB2506D3CA422C884266607AAD4818"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibition on diversity, equity, and inclusion in Federal hiring and employment</header> <subsection id="H298CC59BD4F44EDDA5A3F34E9B8E0D84"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">No Federal funds may be obligated or expended to—</text> 
<paragraph id="HDFA0C7C228F04550A53D3A08F9EB8493"><enum>(1)</enum><text>require, as a condition for appointment to, or continued employment in, the civil service (as that term is defined in section 2101 of title 5, United States Code)—</text> <subparagraph id="H66416A18CEF84D35A1AA20D9A3B90768"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">diversity, equity, and inclusion training; or</text> </subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HB5F128AD2F254261A05BD715A628E7A6"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">any individual to sign, endorse, or otherwise accent statements that are centered on diversity, equity, and inclusion principles; or</text></subparagraph></paragraph> <paragraph id="H2061FDF08C6544ABA8DA8AC538E270B9"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">develop, implement, distribute, plan, or purchase training courses for the Federal workforce that relates to—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H2196ADE20BAB471E9281A2568F2A3C01"><enum>(A)</enum><text>diversity, equity, and inclusion;</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="H14EECB663A924797A4F8E45180693FF7"><enum>(B)</enum><text>critical theory relating to race and gender;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HF0A0EDCFED2B4DB09977A6C2341D5850"><enum>(C)</enum><text>intersectionality, sexual orientation, or gender identity; or</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="HE6654290BD214302A160B13C2B77E087"><enum>(D)</enum><text>the assertion that a particular race, color, ethnicity, religion, biological sex, or national origin is inherently or systemically superior, inferior, oppressive, oppressed, privileged, or unprivileged.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H94AD93C590EF4DAB8617C973B26F4320"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Application</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Nothing in this section shall be construed to apply to commonly accepted and customarily used hiring or employment practices that prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.</text></subsection> <subsection id="H0524AFFA37FE4B1DABBBC23C645780A4"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Definition of diversity, equity, and inclusion</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this section, the term <quote>diversity, equity, and inclusion</quote> means any practice, training, statement, or principle that asserts—</text> 
<paragraph id="H282626F5AABE446EAE4007438A9F1F08"><enum>(1)</enum><text>a particular race, color, ethnicity, religion, biological sex, or national origin is inherently or systemically superior or inferior, oppressive or oppressed, or privileged or unprivileged; or</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H43956D8975CC4F788B6EFFD881DB1DB0"><enum>(2)</enum><text>how systemic racism is embedded in legal systems, policies, and societal structures rather than being solely a product of individual prejudice.</text></paragraph></subsection></section>
