To amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to prohibit the use of supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits to purchase soda.

To amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to prohibit the use of supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits to purchase soda.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
This Act may be cited as the “Funding is Zero for Zero Nutrition Options (FIZZ-NO) Act of 2025”.
Section 3 of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (7 U.S.C. 2012) is amended—
(1) in subsection (k) by inserting “soda,” after “alcoholic beverages,”, and
(2) by inserting after subsection (r) the following:
“(r–1) ‘Soda’ means a carbonated beverage that contains more than 1 gram of added sugar, artificial sweetener, or flavoring per serving.”.
This Act shall take effect 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act.
