<section id="H3FA3F33BF2CB4577969C2009A9E0D249" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header>
 <text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Veterans Benefits Information Protection Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> 
<section id="H624F62A3E6B242BFB5690D20BFB7308F"><enum>2.</enum><header>Restrictions on the use of automated telephone equipment</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 227(b)(1) of the Communications Act of 1934 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/47/227">47 U.S.C. 227(b)(1)</external-xref>) is amended—</text> <paragraph id="HBE16A4404ED247618F8FDA1BAA422506"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subparagraph (C), by striking <quote>or</quote> at the end;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HA8FC624AD30B40F8B9BAE4C0E83E4E7B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subparagraph (D), by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>; or</quote>; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H7434917A576F44B4AB9772FA155335BC"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text>

<subparagraph id="H12D7B5CA298A41B58866CC0E9FE43DDD"><enum>(E)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">to make any call to a telephone number assigned to a Federal department or agency if such call is made by means of equipment that—</text> <clause id="H5F638546C97642A897C86F68BD9EB19E"><enum>(i)</enum><text>has the capacity, without further human intervention after initial activation—</text> 
<subclause id="HA97081FFD26443099694CE07E07B009A"><enum>(I)</enum><text>to make a series of repeated calls to such number; and</text></subclause> <subclause id="H760F9B21CE4C4E42B045CEC7A9669085"><enum>(II)</enum><text>to provide and receive information by means of such calls; and</text></subclause></clause> 
<clause id="H6452722EFEA240BCBEC4D1EDC3CED3FD"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>is operated by any individual or entity other than the individual or entity to whom the information provided or received during such call relates.</text> </clause> </subparagraph> <after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section> </legis-body></bill>
