<section id="HB5AD0270B28549B7A5E1BF53E09ACD83" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>287(g) Cooperation Act of 2026</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="H67B1E9196DAB4D2FAE1D33A2699917C5"><enum>2.</enum><header>Participation in 287(g) program</header> <text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 287(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1357">8 U.S.C. 1357(g)</external-xref>) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="HFBC73BDD8B7C4F638070051DAEA41774"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by redesignating paragraphs (10) and (11) as paragraphs (11) and (12), respectively; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H2900F4666506448982129E0349EE9141"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after paragraph (9) the following:</text>

<paragraph id="HE9FA6BB727C544BBBC912889642FF044"><enum>(10)</enum> 
<subparagraph id="HA2BA0C0AE88A47B59D4B18390921F8DC" display-inline="yes-display-inline"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Any State or political subdivision of a State that maintains a law enforcement agency that, not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of the 287(g) Cooperation Act of 2026, has not entered into a written memorandum of agreement with the Secretary of Homeland Security under this subsection is ineligible to apply for or receive any grant under the ‘Community Oriented Policing Services’ program or any successor program administered by the Department of Justice.</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="HF1136230C5A64C3F846F5288AFD1CEF1" indent="up1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>The Attorney General shall consult with the Secretary of Homeland Security to establish procedures for determining whether an agency has entered into such a memorandum of agreement before approving the award of any grant under the Community Oriented Policing Services program.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section> 
<section id="H14A886C508E64BC9A27141D7A2E1D8D5"><enum>3.</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act and the amendments made by this Act shall take effect on the date of enactment and shall apply to all grant applications submitted under the Community Oriented Policing Services program for fiscal year 2027 and each fiscal year thereafter.</text></section> </legis-body></bill>
