 <text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Fuel the Force Act of 2026</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H697F91BEFA6E4677AD1BC899B3F004B8"><enum>2.</enum><header>Exclusion of certain income from gross income of law enforcement officers</header><subsection id="H30766E3D681841CAB655792013B84B5C"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Part III of subchapter B of <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/26/1">chapter 1</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by inserting after section 139L the following new section:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H534F697F86B34EC8966064BA4AE6A088" display-inline="no-display-inline"><section id="H54805304CA14458FBADC336E2E428F8F"><enum>139M.</enum><header>Certain income of law enforcement officers</header><subsection id="H9C5845D8205A4597A361832B2A1CAB29"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In the case of a qualified taxpayer, gross income does not include qualified income.</text></subsection><subsection id="H8F0B0D4CE56843E5B305CFE7FBFC4C45"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Qualified taxpayer</header><text>For purposes of this section, the term <term>qualified taxpayer</term> means, with respect to a taxable year, an individual that—</text><paragraph id="HFDEF654782CD46408888C450E6BA4B66"><enum>(1)</enum><text>worked full-time during such taxable year as a law enforcement officer, and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H0882620415BE4BEF83FD10BBAD5DFC83"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">has worked full-time as a law enforcement officer for periods aggregating not less than 5 years (determined as of the beginning of such taxable year).</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H956D58D954C14F73B4081769BCF60D76"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Qualified income</header><text>For purposes of this section, the term <term>qualified income</term> means, with respect to any taxable year, the first $100,000 of ordinary income earned by the taxpayer during such taxable year.</text></subsection><subsection id="H871E40558F3A4058868FD7AC8E84731D"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Law enforcement officer</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">For purposes of this section, the term <term>law enforcement officer</term> means—</text><paragraph id="H0E0EA834A77E42209EB3AAC2C2E16100"><enum>(1)</enum><text>an individual serving a Federal, State, or local law enforcement or corrections agency who is involved in crime and juvenile delinquency control or reduction, or enforcement of the criminal laws (including juvenile delinquency), including police, corrections, probation, parole, and judicial officers, and sheriffs and their deputies, and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H9949E86E37A441E183FEE2B483C2DA26"><enum>(2)</enum><text>any school resource officer (as defined in section 1709 of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/34/10389">34 U.S.C. 10389</external-xref>)).</text></paragraph></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection id="HB5925BED3BD3447BA3FC1A5F381E3539"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Clerical amendment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The table of sections for part III of subchapter B of chapter 1 of such Code is amended by inserting after the item relating to section 139L the following new item:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H6AC7F56C1C934BBD948FB629F4850927" display-inline="no-display-inline"><toc regeneration="yes-regeneration"><toc-entry idref="H54805304CA14458FBADC336E2E428F8F" level="section">Sec. 139M. Certain income of law enforcement officers.</toc-entry></toc><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection id="H78884BE5856348F78EC4566CC0410DF6"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendments made by this section shall apply to taxable years beginning after the date of the enactment of this section.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
