R. 7080</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20260114">January 14, 2026</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="V000136">Mr. Vasquez</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="B001307">Mr. Baird</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HAG00">Committee on Agriculture</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 to include waste energy recovery as a source of renewable energy, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HB138743AF14C4C13A326285985F2CE25" style="OLC"><section id="H8F3A68AF13A14A10A1F80CEC254D2222" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Waste Heat to Wattage Act of 2026</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HFF53B323F66E4B868D5CBDC69C263598"><enum>2.</enum><header>Waste energy recovery as a source of renewable energy</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 9001 of the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/8101">7 U.S.C. 8101</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="HAAA9BE497C12417AA217C23E60582E78"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (15)(A), by striking <quote>or hydroelectric</quote> and inserting <quote>hydroelectric, or waste energy recovery</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H7A12296CFF5D428099C0B45E07F1165B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H43D813A1C4AB43C5B4D1178BC31A1946" display-inline="no-display-inline"><paragraph id="HA8D2BD5E289D41ABB619520C63689DB1"><enum>(18)</enum><header>Waste energy recovery</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>waste energy recovery</quote> means heat or pressure that would otherwise be vented, released, throttled, or discharged from a commercial, residential, or industrial process that is recovered and used as the sole input for another purpose or process that generates electricity, including a waste heat to power or waste pressure to power system.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
