<section id="H053075E3BB8745168A3A7D4B0A07E97A" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Congressional notification for certain art-related purchases</header> 
<subsection id="H8B1F80E6FC744C6B90026F46D2301768"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Congressional notification for certain purchases under the Art in Embassies Program</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 15 days before the obligation of funds under the Art in Embassies Program for any purchase of a piece of art or related curatorial service exceeding $37,500, the Secretary of State shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a notification that includes—</text> <paragraph id="H2595C2333EBB42DFB5FB2C98CF1ABC69"><enum>(1)</enum><text>a description of the piece of art or curatorial service to be purchased;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H34950C666FAA428F9EFF439577A4EF5E"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the purpose of the purchase and the intended diplomatic facility or location of the piece of art or curatorial service;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H442B0ADAB6474AFE8694C8AC3624E78F"><enum>(3)</enum><text>the estimated cost of the purchase; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HABA1D9BDF0E346798CDE3B0965CFE8DC"><enum>(4)</enum><text>the source of funds to be used for the purchase.</text></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="H3969D9317A01401FB967A30764954662"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Congressional notification for certain purchases under a residential design program</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 15 days before the obligation of funds under any residential design program for any purchase of a piece of art, furnishings, or design elements exceeding $37,500, the Secretary shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a notification that includes—</text> 
<paragraph id="H4B5B1FBE60714D0EACBEF013B8DB305E"><enum>(1)</enum><text>a description of the item or items to be purchased;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HD16871186A564C16B4156FC6261913CF"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the purpose and intended location of the item or items to be purchased;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HD4BDD53D58C147A096D00E19FD73C52D"><enum>(3)</enum><text>the estimated cost of the purchase; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H0328986CC65F4B8A850A01B1EB7BCD1A"><enum>(4)</enum><text>the source of funds to be used for the purchase.</text> </paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="HAF8EBC052D5941DD8F25F2D7FA85D163"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Congressional notification for certain purchases under the Cultural Heritage Program</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 15 days before the obligation of funds under the Cultural Heritage Program for any single project, acquisition, or commissioning of art, design, or restoration service exceeding $37,500, the Secretary shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a notification that includes—</text> <paragraph id="H4BE71C7D49CB42C1A7AC487B3F65B5B6"><enum>(1)</enum><text>a description of the project, item, or activity for which the obligation of funds will be made;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HB2023065EC8A41D2A85AAE13D412291D"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the purpose and intended location of the project, item, or activity;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H85A60148A34749268C8978824993F642"><enum>(3)</enum><text>the estimated cost of the project, item, or activity; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HAB402186639D463CB9C02DBB6BB9260E"><enum>(4)</enum><text>the source of funds to be used for the project, item, or activity.</text></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="H4545BF3C4C714CA1B3E1D9A91E388A27"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section:</text> 
<paragraph id="H8A7E9B2DEE674042BF10FF98FF76A918"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Appropriate congressional committees</header><text>The term <term>appropriate congressional committees</term> means—</text> <subparagraph id="H168A11903C7F40188B19EBD41557186E"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H451AC0C7853141559001382BFB509994"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate.</text></subparagraph></paragraph> <paragraph id="HF0B1DC6EA0F342D291F00794F9600089" commented="no"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Art</header><text>The term <term>art</term> includes paintings, sculptures, photographs, industrial design, and craft art.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H59AFF13D491D4E8FA2F4612957A99333"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Art in Embassies Program</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>Art in Embassies Program</term> means the program administered by the Department of State to acquire, commission, loan, or exhibit works of art for display at United States diplomatic facilities.</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HE414011FECBE41DA80851A1881662F8D"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Cultural Heritage Program</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>Cultural Heritage Program</term> means the program administered by the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations that supports the preservation, restoration, or enhancement of culturally significant elements, artwork, or architecture at United States diplomatic facilities.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H8208B870E0ED4153B95334D2B7C11B64"><enum>(5)</enum><header>Residential design program</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>residential design program</term> means any program administered by the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations for the design, furnishing, or decoration of representational residences or chief-of-mission residences.</text> </paragraph></subsection></section> </legis-body></bill>
