A BILL

To amend the Diplomatic Security Act to require that congressional notifications relating to decisions to re-open high risk, high threat diplomatic posts include an explanation of the national security value of such decision.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. Short title.

This Act may be cited as the “Safe Embassies Act”.

SEC. 2. Modification to congressional notifications.

Paragraph (1) of section 105(b) of the Diplomatic Security Act (22 U.S.C. 4804(b)) is amended by inserting “, including a detailed explanation of the national security value of re-opening such a post” before the period at the end.
