<section id="H12B2407D8ABC4D798C85F2DB41A4C83A" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Benton MacKaye National Scenic Trail Feasibility Study Act of 2026</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HF26134BD3847482AB2656735B14D185D"><enum>2.</enum><header>Benton MacKaye National Scenic Trail feasibility study</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 5(c) of the National Trails System Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1244">16 U.S.C. 1244(c)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>

<paragraph id="H17CCA3BC9B9A42239BAFDB55FF4C408C"><enum>(50)</enum><header>Benton Mackaye trail</header>
<subparagraph id="HD6E9AD3DC5A24B20A8D123B75C18CEF5"><enum>(A)</enum><header>In general</header><text>The Benton MacKaye Trail, a scenic, nonmotorized trail that traverses approximately 287 miles in the States of Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina.</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="HC78D785DB7834BF2BB1EECDA4C6E2116"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Study</header><text>Not later than 2 years after the date of the enactment of this paragraph, the Secretary of Agriculture, in consultation with interested organizations, including the Benton MacKaye Trail Association, shall complete and submit to Congress the feasibility study for designating the Benton MacKaye Trail as a national scenic trail.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section>
