<official-title display="yes">To require public elementary and middle schools that receive funds under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to obtain parental consent before changing a minor's gender markers, pronouns, or preferred name on any school form or sex-based accommodations, including locker rooms or bathrooms.</official-title>

<section id="HA611754CDA7E45CC934CAC5F41311F99" section-type="section-one" commented="no"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HCC7E6915BD684958BCB5967F4695A797"><enum>2.</enum><header>Parental consent requirement related to gender markers, pronouns, and preferred names on school forms and sex-based accommodations</header> <subsection id="H6F6601A3456D4653A7D8618A3367805B"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Requirement</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">As a condition of receiving funds under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/6301">20 U.S.C. 6301 et seq.</external-xref>), a public school that receives funds under such Act shall obtain parental consent before changing a covered student’s—</text> 
<paragraph id="H84D5BD0546AF4485BC8EB96EA05AAAF8"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">gender markers, pronouns, or preferred name on any school form; or</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H8DC7ABDB66D64CF39214DF344CF932F7"><enum>(2)</enum><text>sex-based accommodations, including locker rooms or bathrooms.</text></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="HB58C5C2E95754062A67829C651371A2C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section:</text> <paragraph id="H0E6D4547B7134F9BBACE90B82883A515"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Covered student</header><text>The term <term>covered student</term> means a minor who is—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H140DCF7C352B4B9A8492498CD31EB832"><enum>(A)</enum><text>an elementary school student; or</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="HD0B33B7F44F641DD9719283925CBFF56"><enum>(B)</enum><text>a student in any of the middle grades.</text></subparagraph></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HB97001034FE444BD8F8310291CE8D681"><enum>(2)</enum><header>ESEA terms</header><text>The terms <term>elementary school</term>, <term>middle grades</term>, and <term>parent</term> have the meanings given such terms in section 8101 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/7801">20 U.S.C. 7801</external-xref>).</text></paragraph></subsection></section> <section id="HF2E66708E0BA4CDA8AC5BA0779E27154"><enum>3.</enum><header>Prohibiting use of ESEA funds to teach gender ideology</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 8526 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/7906">20 U.S.C. 7906</external-xref>) is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H40AF891FA8234C67BF76BB98C982A1A7"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in paragraph (6), by striking <quote>or</quote>; </text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H36855C28086C463E95A9B77FD3C4D1E7"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by redesignating paragraph (7) as paragraph (8); and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HF37FEB7D5F0C4BF9A8F1DDCA26355212"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by inserting after paragraph (6) the following:</text> <quoted-block style="OLC" id="H0CD277DC65594AA082BA7B96433D1C3F" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <paragraph id="HEC159DC44E1E4EBDADEC93143D21BD52"><enum>(7)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">to teach or advance concepts related to gender ideology, as defined in section 2 of Executive Order 14168 (90 Fed. Reg. 8615; relating to defending women from gender ideology extremism and restoring biological truth to the Federal Government); or</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section>
