R. 1095</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20250206">February 6, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="R000614">Mr. Roy</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="W000806">Mr. Webster of Florida</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="N000190">Mr. Norman</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B000825">Ms. Boebert</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="O000175">Mr. Ogles</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HAS00">Committee on Armed Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To eliminate the position of the Chief Diversity Officer of the Department of Defense, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HF3342054682740AC97AA5D22C789D14D" style="OLC"><section id="HC6A9C550E5AD4249A438D079E0228F8F" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Restoring Military Focus Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H7AD46E4172E449B0BC94427B8C41680F"><enum>2.</enum><header>Elimination of the Chief Diversity Officer of the Department of Defense</header><subsection id="H8181C1B2734A461E836CCDA012B44C98"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Repeal of position</header><text>Section 147 of title 10, United States Code, is repealed.</text></subsection><subsection id="H142F6466F9B14CF88B3FD81BE06E1041"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Conforming repeal</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 913 of the William M. (Mac) Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/116/283">Public Law 116–283</external-xref>; 134 Stat. 3802) is repealed.</text></subsection></section><section id="H4B995948A9F3479C9D16F21F69A31E4D"><enum>3.</enum><header>Prohibition on establishment of similar positions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">No Federal funds may be obligated or expended to establish a position within the Department of Defense that is the same as or substantially similar to—</text><paragraph id="H89DD3AAFDDB54434B295CF62092D6408"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the position of Chief Diversity Officer, as described in section 147 of title 10, United States Code, as such section was in effect before the date of the enactment of this Act; or</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H9F394BED469F40B78974675523E5073D"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the position of Senior Advisor for Diversity and Inclusion, as described in section 913(b) of the William M. (Mac) Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/116/283">Public Law 116–283</external-xref>; 134 Stat. 3803), as such section was in effect before the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
