Short title

This Act may be cited as the Government Travel Transparency Act.

Report on use of Federal aircraft by certain officials

(a)

In general

Not later than 30 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, and quarterly thereafter, the Comptroller General of the United States shall submit to Congress and publish on the website of the Government Accountability Office a report analyzing the use by covered officials of aircraft owned or operated by the Federal Government, which shall include an identification of the following: (1)Each use of such aircraft by a covered official for travel with respect to a Federal election or a political activity, and whether the Federal Government was reimbursed for such use. (2)Each use of such aircraft by a covered official for personal travel, if another mode of transportation would have been more cost effective (as determined by the Comptroller General). (b)

Requirements

In preparing the report under subsection (a), the Comptroller General of the United States— (1)shall utilize information from the General Services Administration, including from the GSA Travel Reporting Tool; and (2)may not include in such report the location of a covered official at a specified time. (c)

Definitions

In this section: (1)

Covered official

The term covered official means each of the following: (A)The President of the United States. (B)The Vice President of the United States. (C)The Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. (D)The Administrator of the Small Business Administration. (E)The Attorney General. (F)The Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. (G)The Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. (H)The Director of National Intelligence. (I)The Director of the Office of Management and Budget. (J)The Secretary of Agriculture. (K)The Secretary of Commerce. (L)The Secretary of Defense. (M)The Secretary of Education. (N)The Secretary of Energy. (O)The Secretary of Health and Human Services. (P)The Secretary of Homeland Security. (Q)The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. (R)The Secretary of the Interior. (S)The Secretary of Labor. (T)The Secretary of State. (U)The Secretary of Transportation. (V)The Secretary of the Treasury. (W)The Secretary of Veterans Affairs. (X)The United States Trade Representative. (2)

Federal election

The term Federal election has the meaning given the term election in section 301 of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 (52 U.S.C. 30101). (3)

Political activity

The term political activity has the meaning given the term in section 734.101 of title 5, Code of Federal Regulations.
