R. 10219</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20260901">September 1, 2026</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="T000480">Mr. Timmons</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HAG00">Committee on Agriculture</committee-name>, and in addition to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name>, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to lower the threshold for which criminal penalties apply to a violation of that Act.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H1EEB52E59D534C0AB9F5ED16D34D229B" style="OLC"><section id="HAB1E5CC5DF2043EFAFD31BF3F76B9E7A" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>SNAP Fraud Accountability Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H2EDE8DFB3E574F48B224DED7031461AD"><enum>2.</enum><header>Violations and enforcement of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 15(b)(1) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/2024">7 U.S.C. 2024(b)(1)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>$5,000</quote> each place it appears and inserting <quote>$1,000</quote>. </text></section></legis-body></bill>
