To amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to lower the threshold for which criminal penalties apply to a violation of that Act.
Mr. Timmons introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Agriculture, and in addition to the Committee on the Judiciary, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned
To amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to lower the threshold for which criminal penalties apply to a violation of that Act.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
This Act may be cited as the “SNAP Fraud Accountability Act”.
SEC. 2. Violations and enforcement of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008.
Section 15(b)(1) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (7 U.S.C. 2024(b)(1)) is amended by striking “$5,000” each place it appears and inserting “$1,000”.
