<section id="HE0AD36D3B51A4888B70C89460AA451BA" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header>
 <text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Smart Data Center Policy Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> 
<section id="HD9A4CAE28D294B6FB39A988794616AAC"><enum>2.</enum><header>Study on impact of locating data center sites within or near covered locations</header> 
<subsection id="HD683A56B0A0E4C1C838668171D267BF6"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Commerce shall conduct a study on the impact of locating data center sites within or near a covered location on affected industries.</text></subsection> <subsection id="HEA627D4D539E422EBABA38899A585F98"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Contents</header><text>The study under subsection (a) shall—</text> 
<paragraph id="H360D9A3F0B5844FEA77830C4074CC832"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">assess the costs associated with constructing new data centers within or near covered locations;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HB08B658E6A7742A480D06E2885E50938"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">assess the impact of locating data center sites in affected covered locations on the energy grid, environment, and water system;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H95713D59C1EF4CDD983BD22574358AFA"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">identify covered locations that have the physical, water infrastructure, and energy grid capacity necessary to host new data centers; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H0EF75D1371D447C492E970AA22D0B453"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">identify potential Federal Government incentives to encourage the location of data centers sites within or near covered locations.</text></paragraph> </subsection> 
<subsection id="HF8182B52A5364255A9F75DF83709940A"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Report</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Commerce shall submit to the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Energy and Commerce of the House of Representatives, and the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate, a report on the findings of the study conducted under subsection (a).</text></subsection> <subsection id="HD321F4A6C1704AA1A91B2165F02A1714"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this section:</text> 
<paragraph id="H21D0264D31BD4E4E91EE2C94AFEE4328"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Covered location</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>covered location</term> means a domestic military installation, rail hub, airport, air cargo facility, air traffic control facility, or industrial zone.</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HE507D7E65A0A4A95AB3DBA131D307B0B"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Domestic military installation</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>domestic military installation</term> means a military installation (as defined in section 2801 of title 10, United States Code) located in the United States.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H3E3060354C0D4AC2A0DB34449A357188"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Industrial zone</header><text>The term <term>industrial zone</term> means an area that is designated or zoned for industrial activities.</text></paragraph></subsection></section> </legis-body></bill>
