<section id="H4A0A5008F71A4653B9FF0D197FDF1B8C" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Defending Our Energy and Water Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HB58D6E1A26A14D1795346E776212C298" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Data center requirements for the protection of water resources</header> <subsection id="H072C6786BA014122B8C8CBE63436A19F"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Minimum requirements for new data centers</header> <paragraph id="H95461236BCF147D295FEC8E13BE184B6"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Administrator of the Office of Electronic Government shall revise the minimum requirements for new data centers established pursuant to section 834(b) of the Carl Levin and Howard P. <quote>Buck</quote> McKeon National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/113/291">Public Law 113–291</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/44/3601">44 U.S.C. 3601</external-xref> note) to include requirements relating to protections for water resources at such data centers, including the use of the most water efficient cooling systems.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H572C2FE90CF6438D8435FF50600F7B3F"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Extension of sunset</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 834(e) of the Carl Levin and Howard P. <quote>Buck</quote> McKeon National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/113/291">Public Law 113–291</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/44/3601">44 U.S.C. 3601</external-xref> note) is amended by striking <quote>2026</quote> and inserting <quote>2031</quote>.</text></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="H57D71AD3A8E64B2B9EF4A49AFA9CDE2F"><enum>(b)</enum><header> Energy efficiency targets for data centers</header><text>Section 2921(a)(1) of title 10, United States Code, is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H13352FB3D8A7422BAD3C4FD5E123D7CC"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subparagraph (D), by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H674921EB8509448B9053A6E02190308F"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by redesignating subparagraph (E) as subparagraph (F); and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HC91AAFD4DA9C412AA9DDEE734EC52A9E"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by inserting after subparagraph (D) the following:</text> <quoted-block style="OLC" id="HED88F794665246EC9F6BF5D0E2BD42E4" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <subparagraph id="H69C747A79A364BAA8E579FC8B7126F6D"><enum>(E)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">identify and integrate potential water efficiency technologies to enhance resiliency at the data center and minimize the effects of the data center operation on water resources; and</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </paragraph></subsection></section>
