RES. 198</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20260625">June 25, 2026</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S001224">Mr. Self</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="B001316">Mr. Burlison</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001116">Mr. Clyde</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000565">Mr. Gosar</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="H001052">Mr. Harris of Maryland</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="P000605">Mr. Perry</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="H001077">Mr. Higgins of Louisiana</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B001325">Mrs. Biggs of South Carolina</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="C001115">Mr. Cloud</cosponsor>) submitted the following joint resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>JOINT RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the seventeenth article of amendment.</official-title></form><resolution-body style="constitutional-amendment" id="HFC17C82BA7DB41D592FFDDA1A5D98BB0"><section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="H662CB0E9FF9A445CBE7EE207ECE5B6D9"><text>That the following article is proposed as an amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which shall be valid to all intents and purposes as part of the Constitution when ratified by conventions in three-fourths of the several States within ten years after the date of its submission for ratification:</text><quoted-block style="traditional" id="HC11CDBE1410F4BB1837926ABBC66BDCB" display-inline="no-display-inline"><constitution-article id="H1234"> <enum> —</enum> <section id="HF35E49D925084118AC1C1BE71DDD1B45" section-type="section-one"> <enum>1.</enum> <text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The seventeenth article of amendment to the Constitution is hereby repealed.</text>

                        <enum>2.</enum>
 <text display-inline="yes-display-inline">This amendment shall not be so construed as to affect the election or term of any Senator chosen before it becomes valid as part of the Constitution. </text>
