RES. 96</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20230308">March 8, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S323">Mr. Risch</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S308">Mr. Cardin</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S376">Ms. Ernst</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S324">Mrs. Shaheen</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S266">Mr. Crapo</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S402">Ms. Rosen</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S408">Mr. Hickenlooper</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSCM00">Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Celebrating the extraordinary accomplishments and vital role of women business owners in the United States.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas there are over 13,000,000 women-owned businesses in the United States;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas women-owned businesses—</text><paragraph id="ida3c17c731e35481eb68b8c660c1efaed"><enum>(1)</enum><text>employ more than 10,900,000 people in the United States;</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idf832fd34d7b84e90ad21a0e4ca94ced9"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">generate nearly $1,900,000,000,000 in revenue annually;</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idcaaad77740f54653aa58a60eb19cd404"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">have grown at nearly twice the national average; and</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id2f61438dc24e423ea5bb3aaa74f813e7"><enum>(4)</enum><text>have grown from 4.6 percent to 42 percent of all businesses in the United States between 1972 and 2019; and</text></paragraph></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas women entrepreneurs founded nearly 40 percent of new businesses in 2021: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body><section id="S1" display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section"><text>That the Senate—</text><paragraph id="id88dec5ff100f48bb842be2a30538ae90"><enum>(1)</enum><text>recognizes the vital role of women-owned businesses to the economy of the United States;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id7c5b5948cc8f4c1d8d160f58f0948769"><enum>(2)</enum><text>commends the exceptional entrepreneurial spirit of women business owners in the United States; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id7bcf1ee7ce4f4d2d8b8455d34e0d81c9"><enum>(3)</enum><text>celebrates women entrepreneurs in the United States. </text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
