RES. 388</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20230929" legis-day="20230922">September 29 (legislative day, September 22), 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S252">Ms. Collins</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="S275">Ms. Cantwell</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S386">Ms. Duckworth</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S408">Mr. Hickenlooper</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S337">Mr. Coons</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S415">Mr. Warnock</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S383">Mr. Sullivan</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S394">Ms. Smith</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S363">Mr. King</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S259">Mr. Reed</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S403">Ms. Sinema</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S316">Mr. Whitehouse</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S384">Mr. Tillis</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S372">Mrs. Capito</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S293">Mr. Graham</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S401">Mr. Romney</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S366">Ms. Warren</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S324">Mrs. Shaheen</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S373">Mr. Cassidy</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Designating the week of September 25 through September 29, 2023, as <quote>National Clean Energy Week</quote>.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas, across the United States, clean and readily abundant forms of energy are powering more homes and businesses than ever before;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas clean energy generation is readily available from zero- and low-emissions sources;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the clean energy sector is a growing part of the economy and has been a key driver of economic growth in the United States in recent years;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas technological innovation can further reduce costs, enhance reliability, and increase deployment of clean energy sources;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the report of the Department of Energy entitled <quote>United States Energy &amp; Employment Report 2023</quote> found that, at the end of 2022, the energy and energy efficiency sectors in the United States employed approximately 8,100,000 individuals;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the scaling of affordable and exportable clean energy is essential to reducing global emissions;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas clean energy jobs contribute to the growth of local economies; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas innovative clean energy solutions and clean energy jobs are part of the energy future of the United States: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body><section id="S1" display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section"><text>That the Senate—</text><paragraph id="id5ad1e426337540b481ad7ce0ee63fc68"><enum>(1)</enum><text>designates the week of September 25 through September 29, 2023, as <quote>National Clean Energy Week</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="ide63d30d7a02540b0af9c92146518011b"><enum>(2)</enum><text>encourages individuals and organizations across the United States to support commonsense solutions that address the economic, environmental, and energy needs of the United States in the 21st century;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id1415b41219114050be845d4bcb710c26"><enum>(3)</enum><text>encourages the Federal Government, States, municipalities, and individuals to invest in affordable, clean, and low-emitting energy technologies;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idb03f823cee664de488d9b5f124d4643c"><enum>(4)</enum><text>supports reliable and affordable energy for the people of the United States; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idc00147a67d924cc7901d8e7529cbbe88"><enum>(5)</enum><text>recognizes the role of entrepreneurs and small businesses in ensuring the leadership of the United States in the global energy marketplace and in supporting low-cost, clean, and reliable energy in the United States. </text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
