RES. 219</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20230518">May 18, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S311">Ms. Klobuchar</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="S363">Mr. King</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S308">Mr. Cardin</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSRA00">Committee on Rules and Administration</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Amending the Standing Rules of the Senate to authorize the Majority Leader to move to proceed to the en bloc consideration of certain nominations.</official-title></form><resolution-body><section id="id740AA59D702149ABA3AF7E1249AF3C4B" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>En bloc consideration of certain nominations</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Rule XXXI of the Standing Rules of the Senate is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idC9A1FAD43D0B4DE8983278CE03732987"><subsection id="idDEDBAF4AD69147199082A342AE6BCA7D"><enum>8.(a)<?LEXA-Enum (a)?></enum><text>In this paragraph, the term <term>covered nomination</term> means a nomination to a position that is not a position—</text><paragraph id="id50E69C5EA6E44CAAA9855C341ED38DC0"><enum>(1)</enum><text>at level I of the Executive Schedule under section 5312 of title 5, United States Code; </text></paragraph><paragraph id="id89A5301CA6974CF1A0EA5F6657F6CE91"><enum>(2)</enum><text>as a judge of a court of appeals of the United States; or</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idDB2E44D95C3149E4B6E1DD08F279DE7A"><enum>(3)</enum><text>as Chief Justice of the United States or as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. </text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="idF3035A3FA18B495B9E5DCA6167150BC0"><enum>(b)</enum><text>It shall be in order for the Majority Leader to move to proceed to the en bloc consideration of not more than 10 covered nominations that were reported to the Senate by the same committee of the Senate and placed on the calendar.</text></subsection><subsection id="idFC454DD97E4F4EB8B6E38DE151C3E747"><enum>(c)</enum><text>Consideration of a motion to proceed under subparagraph (b), and the en bloc consideration of the nominations that are the subject of the motion, shall be conducted in the same manner as if it were a motion to proceed to the consideration of a single nomination.</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></resolution-body></resolution>
