<official-title display="yes">Honoring the efforts of the Coast Guard for excellence in maritime border security.</official-title>

<whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas, since 1790, the Coast Guard has safeguarded the people of the United States and promoted national security, border security, and economic prosperity in a complex and evolving maritime environment;</text></whereas> <whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas the over 50,000 members of the Coast Guard—</text> 
<paragraph id="H27AA2920BB6249EB97F343DB9B3B6521" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">operate a multi-mission, interoperable fleet of 259 cutters, 200 fixed and rotary-wing aircraft, and over 1,600 boats;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HB606C469F9824C06AE026CD1CF29A494" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">operate 9 Coast Guard Districts and 37 sectors located at strategic ports throughout the country;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H2DFB80AA2D0E4840A07E1496C439EA46" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">exercise operational control of surface and air assets vested in 2 Coast Guard geographical Areas, the Pacific and the Atlantic; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H3B613D13BEEF4DBD822B0879D8DB2637" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">provide maritime safety and security along more than 95,000 miles of coastline of the United States, Great Lakes, inland waterways, 4,500,000 square miles of exclusive economic zone of the United States, and on the high seas;</text></paragraph></whereas> 
<whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas, in fiscal year 2022, executing Coast Guard missions across the world, including the protection of the maritime borders of the United States, the Coast Guard—</text> <paragraph id="HF01A232EA68F440B9533D8BE72C71F77" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">interdicted over 330,000 pounds of cocaine, over 60,000 pounds of marijuana, and over 17,000 pounds of other narcotics;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H8E6B244FFD7540F79234F33278BE47B2" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">conducted over 6,000 at sea boardings of United States fishing vessels and interdicted approximately 90 foreign fishing incursions; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H1547D6A0649D4E2987F50D53A65A3D72" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">conducted approximately 12,500 migrant interdictions, an increase of over 350 percent from 2021; and</text></paragraph></whereas> 
<whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas, through selfless and dedicated service, the Coast Guard and Coast Guardsmen have remained <quote>Always Ready</quote> to promote the highest level of maritime border security, ensuring the United States and the people of the United States are safeguarded from complex and evolving maritime threats: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble> <resolution-body id="HB534B11C36A04FBA9EC9522BFD3E388D"> <section id="S1" display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section"><text>That the Senate—</text> 
<paragraph id="HA9DE4FD081D6475C861D11C44D6441A7" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">is grateful to the men and women who proudly serve in the Coast Guard to protect the people of the United States by ensuring the highest level of maritime border security; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HA7587DB1DEF44A6D87806BC1E9692B98" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">congratulates the Coast Guard on exemplary service and dedication to the United States. </text></paragraph></section>
