RES. 10</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20230123" legis-day="20230103">January 23 (legislative day, January 3), 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S397">Mr. Braun</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S378">Mr. Lankford</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S375">Mr. Daines</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S407">Mr. Hagerty</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S419">Mr. Mullin</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S396">Mrs. Blackburn</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Memorializing the unborn by lowering the United States flag to half-staff on the 22nd day of January each year.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas, on January 22, 1973, the majority of the members of the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that abortion was a right secured by the Constitution of the United States;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, on June 24, 2022, the majority of the members of the Supreme Court of the United States overturned Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973), to affirm that the Constitution of the United States does not confer a right to abortion; and </text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, since January 22, 1973, more than 60,000,000 unborn children have perished: Now, therefore, be it </text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body><section id="S1" display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section"><text>That the Senate—</text><paragraph id="id256078d5ac3d4c0f892374d177b679e9"><enum>(1)</enum><text>supports the recognition of the Day of Tears in the United States on the 22nd day of January each year;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idab3303fbd5a049608dc16e4a2eb98155"><enum>(2)</enum><text>encourages the people of the United States to lower their flags to half-staff to mourn and honor the innocents who have lost their lives to abortion; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id652c33efb5584c7d9786cfea235b64b0"><enum>(3)</enum><text>encourages legislators to enact laws that respect the sanctity of life. </text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
