<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 5538</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20241216">December 16, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S396">Mrs. Blackburn</sponsor> (for herself and <cosponsor name-id="S388">Ms. Hassan</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSGA00">Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To direct the Secretary of Homeland Security to amend certain regulations to permit certain children to accompany their parents or legal guardians through Global Entry airport lanes, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="HA530DDCDFE534A5BA62F83889C39569C"><section section-type="section-one" id="HF8A8C7253E924C1F932AA1E1762C35C0"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Improving Travel for Families Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H339C5107B6044188BCE0E850A77DB904"><enum>2.</enum><header>Extension of Global Entry to young children of enrollees</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Secretary of Homeland Security shall amend section 235.12 of title 8, Code of Federal Regulations—</text><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id0200f076ba8047cca51e2bf4b75b921f"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">to permit a child who is younger than 11 years of age, is not enrolled in Global Entry in accordance with such section, and is traveling with his or her parent or legal guardian who is enrolled in Global Entry in accordance with such section to accompany such parent or legal guardian through a Global Entry lane upon arrival at an international airport in the United States; and</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="iddd47e623cc414dd79370ee0c11e23942"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">to permit an applicant for enrollment in Global Entry to schedule a single appointment for a personal interview relating to such membership on behalf of himself or herself and up to 4 children described in subsection (a) who are also seeking enrollment in Global Entry and of whom such applicant is the parent or legal guardian.</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
