Dominguez Border Patrol Checkpoint</quote>.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="HD0E7E8090740435986CBE4B2C52B52EE"><section section-type="section-one" id="H0438E301247C4703875D0A9658F781E6"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>James R. Dominguez Memorial Act of 2024</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H1CFF88C7B4164017842C9AABD29F1836"><enum>2.</enum><header>Findings</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline"> Congress finds the following:</text><paragraph id="HCD219C3B2F2D4772A2175E48E1646224"><enum>(1)</enum><text>A native of San Antonio, Texas, Border Patrol Agent James R. Dominguez—</text><subparagraph id="H66E7EB2C4951493387C3E0A4FA8893C8"><enum>(A)</enum><text>proudly and honorably served his country as an agent of the U.S. Border Patrol for more than 12 years;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H19216452DDD14C8596526B8BC2D4358D"><enum>(B)</enum><text>began his service with the U.S. Border Patrol in 2000; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HFACB298FF84245F0AF515E75147EC772"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">graduated as part of the 434th session of the Border Patrol Academy. </text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H8C7F1277853A46C691F2A7A207547EBA"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Agent Dominguez served at the Uvalde Station in the Del Rio Sector.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H27EE19E11C7444F285F74552B10EEB01"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">On July 19, 2012, Agent Dominguez stopped to clear debris from the roadway that posed risks to road and community safety along Highway 90 near Cline, Texas. While on scene, Agent Dominguez was struck and killed by a passing vehicle.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HF90F5CA21C524FA3BD73BBF065C7B377"><enum>(4)</enum><text>Agent Dominguez is survived by his wife and 4 children.</text></paragraph></section><section id="H819C6D5E146F463AA132F301880F4542"><enum>3.</enum><header>Designation</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The checkpoint of the United States Border Patrol located on United States Highway 90 West in Uvalde County, Texas, shall be known and designated as the <quote>James R. Dominguez Border Patrol Checkpoint</quote>.</text></section><section id="HA0DFD60BAB204E9A8F7EC46B3331092B"><enum>4.</enum><header>References</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline"> Any reference in a law, map, regulation, document, paper, or other record of the United States to the checkpoint described in section 3 shall be deemed to be a reference to the <quote>James R. Dominguez Border Patrol Checkpoint</quote>.</text></section></legis-body></bill>
