<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4780</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20240725">July 25, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S385">Ms. Cortez Masto</sponsor> (for herself and <cosponsor name-id="S266">Mr. Crapo</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSGA00">Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend title 5, United States Code, to increase the number of days of paid leave provided for certain military service by Federal employees, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC"><section id="id0a2e9e29be154c2693f4cc77244be685" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Supporting Employees in the Guard and Reserve Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H0A6B80B1CB8742CDA0E8B67735B97F2E"><enum>2.</enum><header>Increase in days of paid leave provided for certain military service by Federal employees</header><subsection id="HE80925F25FF24DB1BA440940D586F8B6"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 6323(a)(1) of title 5, United States Code, is amended by striking the second sentence and inserting the following: <quote>Leave under this subsection accrues for an employee or individual at the rate of 40 days per fiscal year and, to the extent that it is not used in a fiscal year, accumulates for use in succeeding fiscal years until it totals not more than 20 days at the beginning of any fiscal year.</quote>. </text></subsection><subsection id="H16F23AD1C2B549FCAA3D83525676894B"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendment made by subsection (a) shall take effect on October 1, 2025. </text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
