<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4577</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20240618">June 18, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S397">Mr. Braun</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSHR00">Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Older Americans Act of 1965 to require the Assistant Secretary for Aging to publish on an online portal information on national resource centers authorized or supported under such Act, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="idbdf28627bdc94e12be0a8a62fa2051e4" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Senior Resource Center Transparency Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="idde1cfea6fabb4492aadd66586105b2f0"><enum>2.</enum><header>Online portal on national resource centers</header><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id60fe80bdd9b64675a8a7a1e350c3a745"><enum>(a)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 202 of the Older Americans Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/3012">42 U.S.C. 3012</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following: </text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id42A13FA752014DB9B12C8552B407EFFC"><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id219dd91071e04c49be2e2f02496da229"><enum>(j)</enum><text>Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this subsection, and every 180 days thereafter, the Assistant Secretary shall publish on an online portal—</text><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id862519d5ab52467c98deac998ec99251"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">a list of all national resource centers authorized or supported under this Act;</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id617a391d99f4470abc6192f5c6d49ba4"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">a description of each such resource center, including—</text><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idd4c3100d27934f94addecaeea7b457db"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the goals of the center; </text></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id8d0b9460dbe640f8ad8f690ae5f4a44d"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the population served by the center, including the location of that population, by State; </text></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id0c09b959f5aa47b59c4bd74dc8514037"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the number of older individuals served by the center each year; and </text></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idf8d303b8173040c2a9ab759f38582340"><enum>(D)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the amount and source of Federal and non-Federal funding the center receives each year; and</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id9e2b3a3901b041fe89262894f0600212"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">a description of quantitative and qualitative metrics, including measures of effectiveness, that demonstrate how each such center has advanced the goals described in paragraph (2)(A).</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id44ccb65a2bcb4026953845217dabb0c3"><enum>(b)</enum><header>GAO evaluation</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General of the United States shall evaluate all national resource centers authorized or supported under the Older Americans Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/3001">42 U.S.C. 3001 et seq.</external-xref>) for functions to streamline, as appropriate, and to improve the efficiencies of taxpayer funds. </text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
