<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4456</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20240604">June 4, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S317">Mr. Barrasso</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSEG00">Committee on Energy and Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Granger-Thye Act to modify the maximum term for certain special use permits for housing.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="id011680e6a5ef46efa9da2f4651063039" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Forest Service special use permits for housing</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 7 of the Act of April 24, 1950 (commonly known as the <quote>Granger-Thye Act</quote>) (64 Stat. 84, chapter 97; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/580d">16 U.S.C. 580d</external-xref>), is amended by striking <quote>thirty years as determined by him</quote> and inserting <quote>30 years, or in the case of a permit for housing that is located west of the 100th meridian in the contiguous 48 States, 100 years, as determined by the Secretary of Agriculture</quote>.</text></section></legis-body></bill>
