<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4175</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20240418">April 18, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S346">Mr. Lee</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S401">Mr. Romney</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To reauthorize the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act.</official-title></form><legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause"><section section-type="section-one" id="S1"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>RECA Extension Act of 2024</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id4A3C639A17E34E5FAC60BD0CAA78F9D0"><enum>2.</enum><header>Reauthorization of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act</header><subsection id="id62383BFDE5174979A3A1319F1C0F227B"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 3(d) of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/101/426">Public Law 101–426</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/2210">42 U.S.C. 2210</external-xref> note) is amended by striking the first sentence and inserting <quote>The Fund shall terminate on the date that is 2 years after the date of enactment of the <short-title>RECA Extension Act of 2024</short-title>.</quote>.</text></subsection><subsection id="idF5AE314D8E27492AB7F016D306738E07"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Limitation on claims</header><text>Section 8(a) of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/101/426">Public Law 101–426</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/2210">42 U.S.C. 2210</external-xref> note) is amended by striking <quote>the RECA Extension Act of 2022</quote> and inserting <quote>the <short-title>RECA Extension Act of 2024</short-title></quote>.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
