which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSAF00">Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to modify work requirements under the supplemental nutrition assistance program, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause"><section section-type="section-one" id="S1"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Let's Get to Work Act of 2023</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="idAFB363C7FBDF4178AEFE73BD27118413"><enum>2.</enum><header>SNAP work requirements</header><subsection id="id37F7876C7D904095B2285920370D49D5"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Repeal of waiver</header><text>Section 2301 of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/2011">7 U.S.C. 2011</external-xref> note; <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/116/127">Public Law 116–127</external-xref>) is repealed.</text></subsection><subsection id="idF7C67C18D56B4E9F8C0AC325E964096F"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Work requirements</header><paragraph id="id3F959A13878C41C8B9CC083937EF08A5"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Section 6(o) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/2015">7 U.S.C. 2015(o)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><subparagraph id="id937901E71B4241A4A9100F0DB4E94F31"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in paragraph (2), in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), by inserting <quote>, or, in the case of a parent or other member of a household with responsibility for a dependent child, 6 months (consecutive or otherwise),</quote> before <quote>during which</quote>;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="idB83DFB647A68479EB3701B2C9093ED0E"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in paragraph (3)—</text><clause id="id65DC119FB50348648FCCAE311E35CA99"><enum>(i)</enum><text>in subparagraph (A), by striking <quote>50</quote> and inserting <quote>60</quote>; </text></clause><clause id="idE44154326BC1475791910AD41DB20AC1"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>in subparagraph (C), by adding <quote>under 6 years of age</quote> before the semicolon at the end; </text></clause><clause id="id22E788268D994AE8A823BA9CE8921F74"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>in subparagraph (D), by striking <quote>or</quote> at the end after the semicolon;</text></clause><clause id="id60C65C02CB8A4466AF1C0718643F5BA4"><enum>(iv)</enum><text>in subparagraph (E), by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>; or</quote>; and</text></clause><clause id="idB5B89EACB2144A93BF99D31277CAC328"><enum>(v)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id1E6DE56BE88D48668F6903494259AED7"><subparagraph id="id6CBE7CEFE577453C97AF45FC96835E11"><enum>(F)</enum><clause commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="idE741963A3975468DAEFC351A6940661C"><enum>(i)</enum><text>responsible for a dependent individual; and </text></clause><clause id="id9B1BB70B26E041C0904D1CAE4751A5D1" indent="up1"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>married to, and resides with, an individual who is in compliance with the requirements of paragraph (2).</text></clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>; and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id55843FC153CB45CE9A5CFADB211BFC02"><enum>(C)</enum><text>in paragraph (6)—</text><clause id="id241728EEC00044818487D7FC1ED74CA4"><enum>(i)</enum><text>in subparagraph (B), by striking <quote>(H)</quote> and inserting <quote>(G)</quote>;</text></clause><clause id="idAFB692D3EA6546528C982EDDBEBAF093"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>in subparagraph (C), by striking <quote>(F) and (H)</quote> and inserting <quote>(E) and (G)</quote>;</text></clause><clause id="idA4796AEE05E546C293CF232A59FDA289"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>in subparagraph (D), by striking <quote>(F) through (H)</quote> and inserting <quote>(E) through (G)</quote>;</text></clause><clause id="id9CAC37F254C8401FBDAFCEE1BDCF2991"><enum>(iv)</enum><text>by striking subparagraph (E);</text></clause><clause id="idD65DA1BCC16A487EAF9EDF64BFE3BF6A"><enum>(v)</enum><text>by redesignating subparagraphs (F) through (H) as subparagraphs (E) through (G), respectively; and</text></clause><clause id="idB74C3F755ED14B3E9627B558807532AC"><enum>(vi)</enum><text>in subparagraph (E) (as so redesignated), by striking <quote>(C), (D), or (E)</quote> and inserting <quote>(C) or (D)</quote>.</text></clause></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="id5d65d84348614050b5a0901cb4aaea5a"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Conforming amendment</header><text>Section 16(h)(1)(E)(ii)(I) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/2025">7 U.S.C. 2025(h)(1)(E)(ii)(I)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>3-month period</quote> and inserting <quote>3-month or 6-month period, as applicable,</quote>. </text></paragraph></subsection></section><section id="id3F68A4B24F63499190612654190BF8AE"><enum>3.</enum><header>Work requirements for public housing and tenant-based rental assistance</header><subsection id="id1DFD8B82779547678DD5DC87C03EB076"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Public housing</header><text>Section 3 of the United States Housing Act of 1937 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1437a">42 U.S.C. 1437a</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idB894E88886EE4CF6A04E5A45E0A419EC"><subsection id="id72648A8414644011BF003A3A3B8BE0DB"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Work requirements for families</header><text>The requirements described in section 6(o) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/2015">7 U.S.C. 2015(o)</external-xref>) shall apply with respect to any individual who—</text><paragraph id="id2B0F142B9A904FFFBB8E6F47F113B2D7"><enum>(1)</enum><text>is a member of a family residing in a public housing dwelling; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id00A8972083DA4F52B7393948DCFB7FB9"><enum>(2)</enum><text>is not exempted from those requirements under paragraph (3) of such section.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection id="id21860A9E95C64E9EA26E06C6C193BDF7"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Tenant-Based rental assistance</header><text>Section 8(o) of the United States Housing Act of 1937 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1437f">42 U.S.C. 1437f(o)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idBB1BD3EDC91942B29BDF201A481D6D63"><paragraph id="id07F7A46CF7F74A86AC71D7B6EAA3C3F0"><enum>(22)</enum><header>Work requirements for families</header><text>The requirements described in section 6(o) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/2015">7 U.S.C. 2015(o)</external-xref>) shall apply with respect to any individual who—</text><subparagraph id="idB79CEC27A7264EE6B7A0DE401DE972B8"><enum>(A)</enum><text>is a member of a family receiving tenant-based assistance; and </text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id4619143321384B2587C784EEFEBD35EA"><enum>(B)</enum><text>is not exempted from those requirements under paragraph (3) of such section.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
