<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 3536</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20231214">December 14, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S397">Mr. Braun</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSHR00">Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act to require notification with respect to individualized education program teams, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="H5EC16C65F60D48279610A6731AD38AD1"><section section-type="section-one" id="HFC571F7499CB412D8E665BABC586E78D"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Think Differently about Education Act of 2023</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section section-type="subsequent-section" id="H6A206C8311624BFDA42C162B4C860276"><enum>2.</enum><header>Notification requirement for IEP teams</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 614(d) of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/1414">20 U.S.C. 1414(d)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following: </text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HB9FB597069C6414A965B96F75E47F77E"><paragraph id="H1C3C834DCB8849688A9A677121F7A1FD"><enum>(8)</enum><header>Notification required</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">At the beginning of each school year, each local educational agency, State educational agency, or other State agency, as the case may be, shall notify each parent of a child with a disability in the agency's jurisdiction that such parent may, under paragraph (1)(B)(vi), include individuals who have knowledge or special expertise regarding the child, including related services personnel as appropriate, as part of the individualized education program team for such child.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
