<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 3263</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20231109">November 9, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S416">Mrs. Britt</sponsor> (for herself and <cosponsor name-id="S412">Mr. Tuberville</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SLIA00">Committee on Indian Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To reaffirm the applicability of the Indian Reorganization Act to the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, and for other purposes. </official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="H3FE114BE2B744158A185C1CCE7068BE8"><section section-type="section-one" id="H3A847575DA4C4E86949361F53CF46AEA"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Poarch Band of Creek Indians Parity Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HCFFD46BF5CF14FF090224AD806002028"><enum>2.</enum><header>Applicability of Indian Reorganization Act to the Poarch Band of Creek Indians</header><subsection id="H65E08FA3ADC4492AB53B3D4428325F24"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Poarch Band of Creek Indians shall be considered <quote>now under Federal jurisdiction</quote> as of June 18, 1934, for purposes of the Act of June 18, 1934 (commonly known as the <quote>Indian Reorganization Act</quote>) (48 Stat. 984, chapter 576; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/25/5101">25 U.S.C. 5101 et seq.</external-xref>).</text></subsection><subsection id="HCA56B9E44D574089BCE66FFEDB2FA13B"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Lands taken into trust</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">All lands taken into trust by the United States for the benefit of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians before the date of enactment of this Act are reaffirmed as trust land, and the actions of the Secretary of the Interior in taking those lands into trust under the Act of June 18, 1934 (commonly known as the <quote>Indian Reorganization Act</quote>) (48 Stat. 984, chapter 576; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/25/5101">25 U.S.C. 5101 et seq.</external-xref>), are ratified and confirmed.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
