Review of sanctions with respect to Hong Kong

(a)

Determination with respect to imposition of sanctions

Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the President shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a determination, including a detailed justification, of whether any person listed in subsection (b) meets the criteria for the imposition of sanctions pursuant to—(1)section 1263(b) of the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act (22 U.S.C. 10102(b));(2)Executive Order 13818 (50 U.S.C. 1701 note; relating to blocking the property of persons involved in serious human rights abuse or corruption);(3)section 7 of the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act of 2019 (22 U.S.C. 5701 note; Public Law 116–76); (4)section 6 of the Hong Kong Autonomy Act (22 U.S.C. 5701 note; Public Law 116–149); or(5)Executive Order 13936 (22 U.S.C. 5701 note; relating to Hong Kong Normalization).(b)

In this Act, the term appropriate congressional committees means—(1)the Committee on Foreign Relations and the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs of the Senate; and(2)the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Financial Services of the House of Representatives.
