<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 3017</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20231004">October 4, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S346">Mr. Lee</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S395">Mrs. Hyde-Smith</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S318">Mr. Wicker</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S421">Mr. Vance</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S397">Mr. Braun</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S399">Mr. Hawley</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend title 18, United States Code, to repeal prohibitions relating to freedom of access to clinic entrances, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="HEEBA036EBE06494C9CB71AD142BA4236"><section section-type="section-one" id="HBB874B479A284735B61D39310639DBC7"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Restoring the First Amendment and Right to Peaceful Civil Disobedience Act of 2023</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H05B1248A6507468993D938E35D6DEC76"><enum>2.</enum><header>Repeal of prohibitions relating to freedom of access to clinic entrances</header><subsection id="H7C553A366A654E02B8218E39C0E0D684"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 248 of title 18, United States Code, is repealed.</text></subsection><subsection id="H8288556BC39545D09B4C1F505CD7CFFD"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Clerical amendment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The table of sections for <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/18/13">chapter 13</external-xref> of title 18, United States Code, is amended by striking the item relating to section 248.</text></subsection><subsection id="H19734F9DD4EC4205A4AC2736AE01B6BF"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Applicability</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The repeal made in subsection (a) shall apply to any prosecution of an offense that is pending on, or commenced on or after, the date of enactment of this Act.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
