<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 2806</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20230914">September 14, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S397">Mr. Braun</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S303">Mr. Thune</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S317">Mr. Barrasso</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S411">Mr. Marshall</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S318">Mr. Wicker</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S372">Mrs. Capito</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S420">Mr. Schmitt</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S350">Mr. Rubio</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S423">Mr. Ricketts</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S399">Mr. Hawley</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S421">Mr. Vance</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S410">Ms. Lummis</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSEG00">Committee on Energy and Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To repeal certain provisions relating to taxpayer subsidies for home electrification, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="HB08DCC2EA5EA468EAA424B01B67C8F5E"><section section-type="section-one" id="HE326B01EB3F14AA9A82AA4BB15139A2B"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Homeowner Energy Freedom Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HB1F6EB16E0CB47F8BB643CD9DF8EB96F"><enum>2.</enum><header>Homeowner energy freedom</header><subsection commented="no" id="H80BE92CCD1954DED8C988F2FA67EB724"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The following are repealed:</text><paragraph commented="no" id="HB0EABE39359A42A7B0E5F08118363503"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 50122 of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/117/169">Public Law 117–169</external-xref> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/18795a">42 U.S.C. 18795a</external-xref>; 136 Stat. 2036) (commonly known as the <quote>Inflation Reduction Act</quote>) (relating to a high-efficiency electric home rebate program). </text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" id="H7C1E5D498C6C4D3B846A3571A7FC1C69"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 50123 of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/117/169">Public Law 117–169</external-xref> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1879b">42 U.S.C. 1879b</external-xref>; 136 Stat. 2041) (commonly known as the <quote>Inflation Reduction Act</quote>) (relating to State-based home energy efficiency contractor training grants).</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H2867FBDF39D347419FE70E469D81DF6F"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 50131 of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/117/169">Public Law 117–169</external-xref> (136 Stat. 2041) (commonly known as the <quote>Inflation Reduction Act</quote>) (relating to assistance for latest and zero building energy code adoption).</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" id="HF35001FF4FA243ACABD13883D8105FFA"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Rescissions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The unobligated balances of any amounts made available under each of the sections described in subsection (a) (as in effect on the day before the date of enactment of this Act) are rescinded.</text></subsection><subsection id="H3B162693C6F345998C041C84B98AF8D4"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Conforming amendment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 50121(c)(7) of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/117/169">Public Law 117–169</external-xref> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/18795">42 U.S.C. 18795(c)(7)</external-xref>; 136 Stat. 2033) (commonly known as the <quote>Inflation Reduction Act</quote>) is amended by striking <quote>, including a rebate provided under a high-efficiency electric home rebate program (as defined in section 50122(d)),</quote>.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
