<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><calendar>Calendar No. 560</calendar><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 2783</legis-num><associated-doc role="report">[Report No. 118–245]</associated-doc><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20230913">September 13, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S350">Mr. Rubio</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S404">Mr. Scott of Florida</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SLIA00" added-display-style="italic" deleted-display-style="strikethrough">Committee on Indian Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><action stage="Reported-in-Senate"><action-date date="20241118">November 18, 2024</action-date><action-desc>Reported by <sponsor name-id="S353">Mr. Schatz</sponsor>, without amendment</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Miccosukee Reserved Area Act to authorize the expansion of the Miccosukee Reserved Area and to carry out activities to protect structures within the Osceola Camp from flooding, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Miccosukee Reserved Area Amendments Act </short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id770730b09a8544b4817f1ac0c59248fb"><enum>2.</enum><header>Miccosukee Reserved Area Addition</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 4(4) of the Miccosukee Reserved Area Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/410">16 U.S.C. 410</external-xref> note; <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/105/313">Public Law 105–313</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id3bdc214fd4da4ba08b066cca0322aba9"><subparagraph id="id5760c7c3e4a1459e910f45081d18fe67"><enum>(C)</enum><header>Additional area</header><text>In addition to the land described in subparagraph (B), the term <quote>Miccosukee Reserved Area</quote> or <quote>MRA</quote> includes the portion of the Park that is known as <quote>Osceola Camp</quote> and is depicted on the map entitled <quote>Everglades National Park, Proposed Expansion–Miccosukee Reserved Area, Osceola Camp</quote>, numbered 160/188443, and dated July 2023, copies of which shall—</text><clause commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id202e5cab2d244d71bd6700538d10dadf"><enum>(i)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">be kept available for public inspection in the offices of the National Park Service; and </text></clause><clause commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idaeccea0cc5d0469e9576430c6485b91f"><enum>(ii)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">be filed with appropriate officers of Miami-Dade County and the Tribe.</text></clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section><section id="ideaa7ed87fd864c17bda9089bd7be0331"><enum>3.</enum><header>Protection of the Osceola Camp from flooding</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 8 of the Miccosukee Reserved Area Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/410">16 U.S.C. 410</external-xref> note; <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/105/313">Public Law 105–313</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id322cccdb2f984babad51c40bdc903484"><subsection id="id3f6e55d5f18f40deaa301880b9f018fc"><enum>(j)</enum><header>Protection of Osceola Camp from flooding</header><paragraph id="id0462312d8f6440848d3cf552ed985eae"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Not later than 2 years after the date of enactment of this subsection, the Secretary, in consultation with the Tribe, shall take appropriate actions to protect structures within the area described in section 4(4)(C) from flooding.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id1c2d768df67d4022a979ec900bf999b5"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Authorization of appropriations</header><text>There are authorized to be appropriated to the Secretary such sums as are necessary to carry out paragraph (1) for fiscal year 2024 and each fiscal year thereafter, but not more than a total $14,000,000.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body><endorsement><action-date date="20241118">November 18, 2024</action-date><action-desc>Reported without amendment</action-desc></endorsement></bill>
