<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 2567</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20230727">July 27, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S287">Mr. Cornyn</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S354">Ms. Baldwin</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Computer Crime Enforcement Act to reauthorize the State grant program for training and prosecution of computer crimes, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Stop Computer Crimes Proliferation Act of 2023</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id2b99cc845cc84a97a207b961348cfd27"><enum>2.</enum><header>Reauthorization</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2 of the Computer Crime Enforcement Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/34/30101">34 U.S.C. 30101</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="id10e6af0ae7424be5a5b96bb9ed9d529a"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (e)(1), by striking <quote>fiscal years 2009 through 2013</quote> and inserting <quote>fiscal years 2024 through 2027</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idc178f8b6aa6f4d40b6e3b83de22af72b"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idCD442964636548CFB9810F5021E00EA3"><subsection id="id165a95c459e24da0a3de5c5d1161dd63"><enum>(g)</enum><header>Report to Congress</header><text>Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of the <short-title>Stop Computer Crimes Proliferation Act of 2023</short-title>, and annually thereafter, the Attorney General shall submit to Congress a report on the overall performance of the grant program established under this section that includes—</text><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id43f18165920e444aaa1e6534373a22f7"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the number of entities funded by a grant;</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id1506b349b334462d8d4d9d6fc75167eb"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">how funds from a grant are used by each entity receiving the grant; and</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id6c1bd737464b4339b5b9fe24560fbe86"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the number of entities that apply for and do not receive a grant under this section.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
