<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 2057</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20230620">June 20, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S383">Mr. Sullivan</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S404">Mr. Scott of Florida</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSFR00">Committee on Foreign Relations</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To require the Secretary of Defense to deliver on foreign military sales to Taiwan.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="idb62ff29ca514456992ec9d7755eeabde" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Delivery on foreign military sales to Taiwan</header><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id0b21102c36a24768b181e20621d1ffca"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Subject to subsection (b), with respect to defense articles and services contracted to be sold to Taiwan under the foreign military sales process as of the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense, with the concurrence of the Government of Taiwan, shall ensure the delivery of such defense articles and services to Taiwan ahead of the delivery of substantially similar articles and services to any other foreign military sales customer.</text></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id43dd3b141df943b89f0e77c997bb9085"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Limitation</header><text>The Secretary of Defense may not apply subsection (a) in a manner that, directly or indirectly, inhibits or delays the delivery of substantially similar articles and services to Ukraine or Israel.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
