which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSAS00">Committee on Armed Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend title 37, United States Code, to expand eligibility for reimbursement of qualified licensure, certification, and business relocation costs incurred by military spouses.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Military Spouse Career Support Act of 2023</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id7d8ce50bb8504025b38a97e93c10e939"><enum>2.</enum><header>Expansion of eligibility for reimbursement of qualified licensure, certification, and business relocation costs incurred by military spouses</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 453(g) of title 37, United States Code, is amended—</text><paragraph id="id52d8f18c241b470fa1af83e3b5dfee4e"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the subsection heading, by striking <quote><header-in-text style="OLC" level="subsection">or business costs</header-in-text></quote> and all that follows through <quote><header-in-text style="OLC" level="subsection">assignment</header-in-text></quote> and inserting <quote><header-in-text style="OLC" level="subsection">and business costs</header-in-text></quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idf9d39aeb092343318f340662fa9bd8c9"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (1)—</text><subparagraph id="id8930e2418d7d41df9f8c69992c3d0c1e"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), by striking <quote>or qualified business costs</quote> and inserting <quote>and qualified business costs</quote>;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id2d1392ac5ef445538be5c3d5f8129cd1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by amending subparagraph (A) to read as follows:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ide8c8321ed33c497e973afec6e16ee694"><subparagraph id="idd091933f9404473da70ca54538dba8b8"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the member relocates to a new jurisdiction or geographic area as the result of—</text><clause id="id200d60142c544c7a8768c34ff6ec0dfe"><enum>(i)</enum><text>an assignment to a duty station;</text></clause><clause id="id87f953150a5d444a9b2a409cab817ba5"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>a reassignment, either as a result of a permanent change of station or permanent change of assignment, between duty stations; or</text></clause><clause id="ided451be35a1645f5ad9b05afdcceecea"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>a transfer from a regular component of a uniformed service into the Selected Reserve of the Ready Reserve of a uniformed service, if the member is authorized a final move from the last duty station to the new jurisdiction or geographic area; and</text></clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>; and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subparagraph><subparagraph id="idf8733b62f4f94521912de67243857644"><enum>(C)</enum><text>in subparagraph (B), by striking <quote>reassignment</quote> and inserting <quote>relocation</quote>;</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="id3cd49c0bcfea4094a45b2273e2e299f0"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in paragraph (2), by striking <quote>reassignment</quote> both places it appears and inserting <quote>relocation</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id53cad78839f44a678f2a8d513e5c27f7"><enum>(4)</enum><text>in paragraph (4)—</text><subparagraph id="id71336324d08740bebc572a53528e0ed2"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in subparagraph (A), by striking <quote>movement described in</quote> and all that follows through the semicolon and inserting <quote>the member’s relocation described in paragraph (1);</quote>; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id7010f9e671154c25a522e5dd504e91d8"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in subparagraph (B), by striking <quote>reassignment</quote> and inserting <quote>relocation</quote>; and</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="id2b8cb05d045c4053b97fda8efad1ab83"><enum>(5)</enum><text>in paragraph (5)—</text><subparagraph id="id154748c8c1ca45fc86c6242ef0b04e82"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in subparagraph (A), by striking <quote>a movement described in</quote> and all that follows through the semicolon and inserting <quote>the member’s relocation described in paragraph (1);</quote>; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="idb14cc66153e6450b8d146734280d3d1c"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in subparagraph (B), by striking <quote>reassignment</quote> and inserting <quote>relocation</quote>. </text></subparagraph></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
