<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 1859</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20230607">June 7, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S383">Mr. Sullivan</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S376">Ms. Ernst</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S357">Mrs. Fischer</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S338">Mr. Manchin</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S372">Mrs. Capito</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S417">Mr. Budd</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSEG00">Committee on Energy and Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To prohibit the Secretary of Energy from finalizing, implementing, or enforcing the proposed rule entitled <quote>Energy Conservation Program: Energy Conservation Standards for Consumer Conventional Cooking Products</quote>, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="H7F2EC51C43FA4840B7E890FF87DEB882"><section section-type="section-one" id="H16A4485BF6DB49F1BB81ED5EB5389952"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Save Our Gas Stoves Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H1A35516277EB46CD85CF5B927E8A76C7"><enum>2.</enum><header>Standards for kitchen ranges and ovens</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 325(h) of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/6295">42 U.S.C. 6295(h)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following: </text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H35BFA507CDC34F03AAC4097632A765A7"><paragraph id="H5AA50661A0424803A95CF762CF8FDAC5" indent="up1"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary may not determine that imposition of an energy conservation standard under this section for kitchen ranges or ovens is economically justified for purposes of subsection (o) unless the Secretary determines that imposition of that energy conservation standard is not likely to result in the unavailability in the United States of a type (or class) of product based on what type of fuel the product consumes.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section><section id="H853726BBE5624887A6C77A26233999CD"><enum>3.</enum><header>Prohibition on rulemaking</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Secretary of Energy may not finalize, implement, or enforce the proposed rule entitled <quote>Energy Conservation Program: Energy Conservation Standards for Consumer Conventional Cooking Products</quote> (88 Fed. Reg. 6818 (February 1, 2023)) or any substantially similar rule.</text></section></legis-body></bill>
