Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act to establish a deadline for applying for disaster unemployment assistance.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Disaster Assistance Deadlines Alignment Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idbe80a9e4d75741489ec29326fc20f7d9"><enum>2.</enum><header>Disaster unemployment assistance application deadline</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 410 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/5177">42 U.S.C. 5177</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idDD59B1DB9BFA4DCDAD02F19A0458D0E8"><subsection id="id30f041e2fc604bfebb28733ffb0921cc"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Application deadline</header><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idb773e924d8624d6e8b3404cc65845e32"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">With respect to a major disaster for which assistance is provided under this section and section 408, the application deadline for an individual seeking assistance under this section shall match the application deadline for individuals and households seeking assistance under section 408.</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id79f08ad0a5874c0fa0660e0be4c3d403"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Extension</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The President may accept an application from an individual described in paragraph (1) that is submitted after the deadline described in paragraph (1) if—</text><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id4d4af057cd4a49ceb15182fc17634713"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the individual has good cause for the late submission; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id24f69c56905b4b97a076748d5ee7d482"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the individual submits the application before the date on which the period during which assistance is provided under this section for the applicable major disaster expires.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body><endorsement><action-date>July 25, 2023</action-date><action-desc>Reported without amendment</action-desc></endorsement></bill>
