<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 1673</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20230518">May 18, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S385">Ms. Cortez Masto</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="S252">Ms. Collins</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S284">Ms. Stabenow</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S373">Mr. Cassidy</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSFI00">Committee on Finance</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend title XVIII to protect patient access to ground ambulance services under the Medicare program.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="HD283E4E514194E839C0CC5DFCADB0640"><section section-type="section-one" id="H811E0291F4964440972857BAA7C45143"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Protecting Access to Ground Ambulance Medical Services Act of 2023</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H8A43E8F0D414427D8CCFDCFD41990987"><enum>2.</enum><header>Protecting patient access to Medicare ground ambulance services</header><subsection id="idFB7762429199413DAE251258D828574D"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Super rural ambulance</header><text>Section 1834(l)(12)(A) of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1395m">42 U.S.C. 1395m(l)(12)(A)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ida6adedd4f6454f4197f448100778ffb2"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in the first sentence, by striking <quote>2025</quote> and inserting <quote>2028</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idfac5896ca7a64736b0a28e1f792c3f54"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new sentence: <quote>In the case of services furnished on or after January 1, 2025, and before January 1, 2028, such percent increase shall be 26.7 percent.</quote>.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id37e3582c3056467dbe66763e06a19953"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Ground ambulance</header><text>Section 1834(l)(13)(A) of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1395m">42 U.S.C. 1395m(l)(13)(A)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id0e0bbd981ada4fc2b7eb8985b0eaa322"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in the matter preceding clause (i), by striking <quote>2025</quote> and inserting <quote>2028</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id15c570fc45dd4a43885a3a131a425348"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in clause (i), by inserting <quote>, or 4.3 percent if such service is furnished on or after January 1, 2025, and before January 1, 2028</quote> after <quote>2025</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ida4bc5e4c3b824712a9d103c57ead5328"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in clause (ii), by inserting <quote>, or 3.4 percent if such service is furnished on or after January 1, 2025, and before January 1, 2028</quote> after <quote>2025</quote>.</text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
