<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>118th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 1620</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20230516">May 16, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S414">Mr. Ossoff</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S415">Mr. Warnock</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSAS00">Committee on Armed Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Military Construction Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 to extend the authorization for a construction project at Fort Gillem, Georgia.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Fort Gillem Defense Forensics Enhancement Act of 2023</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id168a2dc446014940bdb29cfb7863ff0f"><enum>2.</enum><header>Extension of authority to carry out Fort Gillem forensic laboratory project</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Notwithstanding section 2002 of the Military Construction Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 (division B of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/116/283">Public Law 116–283</external-xref>; 134 Stat. 4294), the authorization set forth in section 2101(a) of that Act (134 Stat. 4295) for Fort Gillem, Georgia, shall remain in effect until October 1, 2024, or the date of the enactment of an Act authorizing funds for military construction for fiscal year 2025, whichever is later.</text></section></legis-body></bill>
