RES. 919</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20231207">December 7, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="A000379">Mr. Alford</sponsor> submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HAS00">Committee on Armed Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Recognizing the 83rd anniversary of the groundbreaking of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas, on December 3, 1940, the Army broke ground near Rolla, Missouri;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the post was named for Major General Leonard Wood, who was not only a military hero awarded the Medal of Honor, but also a surgeon;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, in March of 1941, the first elements of an Engineer Replacement Training Center arrived at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, during World War II, more than 300,000 soldiers passed through Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, on the way to perform military service;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, currently, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, trains 80,000 members of the Armed Forces and civilians each year; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, is a prestigious military installation that trains nearly every branch of the Armed Forces: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="OLC" id="H00B13B6495DE4F97824EDEC511C1C3E8"><section id="HDFF179125774498DA0C7901473DAAC77" display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That the House of Representatives recognizes the 83rd anniversary of the groundbreaking of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. </text></section></resolution-body></resolution>
