RES. 898</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20231130">November 30, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="E000296">Mr. Evans</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="F000466">Mr. Fitzpatrick</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HED00">Committee on Education and the Workforce</committee-name>, and in addition to the Committees on <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Energy and Commerce</committee-name>, and <committee-name committee-id="HWM00">Ways and Means</committee-name>, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned</action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Recognizing November 2023 as <quote>National Family Caregivers Month</quote>.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas in 2020, 53,000,000 family caregivers in the United States provide essential care to millions of people each year, providing unpaid care worth an estimated $600,000,000,000 annually;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas family caregivers play a vital role in the healthcare system of the United States, supporting loved ones who have chronic illnesses, disabilities, and are aging;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas family caregivers, who are disproportionately women of color, often face significant challenges including financial strain, physical and emotional exhaustion, and social isolation; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas <quote>National Family Caregivers Month</quote> is an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the contributions of family caregivers and to advocate for policies that support family caregivers: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="OLC" id="H25BBFE69D45C44A9B8A22160E40C502A"><section id="H75B6E1CCCF6E41E1B0116E5752D1657F" display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section"><text>That the House of Representatives—</text><paragraph id="H4824E43FF9E049FCBD41A18D035E2DFA" commented="no"><enum>(1)</enum><text>recognizes <quote>National Family Caregivers Month</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HF0542D7AC1F44FD0AA1C58B9F7B9D365"><enum>(2)</enum><text>commends the 53,000,000 family caregivers in the United States who provide essential care to their loved ones and chosen family each day;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H13AEC67E9FDD421DBB727980BADEC92E"><enum>(3)</enum><text>encourages Federal agencies, States, and the private sector to swiftly implement the steps described in the 2022 National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H946862E2D3264F658AE8F79D45393069"><enum>(4)</enum><text>urges investment in policies that support family caregivers, including—</text><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H500FA6DDA10C48CE8EEB9A44E51BC476"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">economic tax credits;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HB27D3351F9194F489D2719E06EA5236C"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">paid family and medical leave;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H7584134BA3684A03AB8781D1A9C8A24F"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">respite care;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H8F4601CB39F747C3B6CC6D6A246A3E85"><enum>(D)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">home and community-based services; and </text></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H018373CEE9B543F08F1E2C8ECADCC2A3"><enum>(E)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">access to quality healthcare; and</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="HA6CCD3945BFE409BB9A6BE562B775B12"><enum>(5)</enum><text>encourages all people of the United States to learn more about family caregiving and to support their loved ones and neighbors who are providing care. </text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
