RESOLUTION
Expressing support for the designation of the second week of June as
Children's Week in the United States.
Whereas designating a week as ``Children's Week'' would increase awareness and
attention to the importance of children's well-being and the issues they
face;
Whereas investing in children's well-being is essential for the long-term
health, prosperity, and best interests of the Nation and the world;
Whereas supporting children and families is a priority that transcends
political, regional, and international boundaries;
Whereas every child, regardless of who they are or where they come from,
deserves the opportunity to thrive;
Whereas children face numerous challenges and obstacles, including health,
education, and safety, that impact their lives and their futures both
domestically and internationally;
Whereas children face higher rates of poverty than adults, with consequences for
their healthy development and our society as a whole;
Whereas children have the right to grow up in safe, healthy, and nurturing
environments that support their well-being and development;
Whereas ensuring the well-being of all children is a responsibility shared by
families, communities, governments, and individuals;
Whereas children and youth should be empowered to become active participants in
shaping their own hopes, dreams, and well-being, through civic
engagement, leadership, and advocacy; and
Whereas Children's Week provides an opportunity to bring together public and
private organizations, businesses, and individuals to collaborate on
initiatives to improve children's well-being and support their futures:
Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the House of Representatives--
(1) expresses support for the designation of ``Children's
Week'' in the United States, to be observed with appropriate
ceremonies, activities, and programs to raise awareness of the
importance of children's well-being and the issues they face;
and
(2) requests that the President issue a proclamation
calling upon the people of the United States to observe
Children's Week with appropriate ceremonies, activities, and
programs, and encourages public and private organizations,
businesses, and individuals to collaborate on initiatives to
improve children's well-being and support their futures.
