<whereas><text>Whereas there are 1,800,000 adopted children in the United States;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas more than 320,000 children in the United States were cared for by foster families in fiscal year 2021;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas 13 percent of adults in the United States are stepparents;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas for many children in the United States, family members and loved ones serving as guardians fulfill the roles and responsibilities of parents every day;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas millions of people and families in the United States face barriers to biological parenthood, including, but not limited to, LGBTQI+ people, people with disabilities, people who cannot conceive, people who experience pregnancy loss, and more; and</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas between 2,000,000 and 3,700,000 children under age 18 have an LGBTQI+ parent who may not have a biological relationship to their child: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" id="HADAD5720D50146BA9B237B61CF9FC5C4"> 
<section id="HAB2BA1C93CAB431A8B50D0776B53DA53" section-type="undesignated-section" display-inline="yes-display-inline"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That it is the sense of the House of Representatives that—</text> <paragraph id="HB2815119E6924A3AA25E7ED5DA5A9D11"><enum>(1)</enum><text>a parent’s ability to contribute to their child’s growth and success is not defined by the circumstances by which they became a parent; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H250C0EA5B9A947D48F2F5E350137825D"><enum>(2)</enum><text>families of all backgrounds and circumstances deserve to be recognized, respected, and celebrated.</text></paragraph></section> </resolution-body></resolution>
